Versace Spring/Summer brand campaign 2011

This is a great brand campaign using Mad Men actress January Jones. It firmly establishes who the Versace woman is, that is sexy, confident and successful. It sells the core money spinners for high end brands in volume sales ie hand bags and sunglasses very well. As a set of photographs it stands out amongst the competition, almost all of which use their clothing merchandise in their campaigns, which is fine however for me if everyone is doing a vaguely similar thing as I flick through a magazine I switch off. 

January Jones may be naked however the overall impression is classy and tasteful. This is a superb collection of commercial images with a feel of art - which is in my opinion what all good advertisers should aim for.

My brand photo quality test is would you go and see these in an exhibition in the White Cube gallery? - in this case the answer is an emphatic yes!

Steven Meisel ' I FEEL LOVE' Studio 54 Inspired

This is a fabulously decadent fashion shoot inspired by the 1970's glamour of Studio 54.
Natalia Vodianova is seen here at her best. A classic shoot that should be useful inspiration as we see the Catwalk brimming with Halstonesque slick draped dresses and body con figure hugging off the shoulder stretch tops, simple sexy shapes and bright colours will be great to wear this summer with florals and floppy hats  - Disco Fever is back.....and going main stream again.  

Spring/Summer Fashion Trends 2011

Taking on board this Spring/Summers big colour trend WHITE we will see everywhere in the High Street as well as in the collections of top designer brands I set a project for my students to come up with ideas of how to promote and sell white for this Summer making it aspirational and appealing in a fashion magazine of their choice. Spring Summer Fashion Trends - White Stripes & floral

Taking these three looks and showing them in one shoot is a great way of representing what most people will do - buy into more than one theme/look, White, Stripes and floral are strong and appealing looks that will be easy to dip into and out of and combine and coordinate in the Season ahead.

This concept for Lula Magazine is a project completed by stylist Sofia Pires on my Art direction course at Xmas.
