Brazilian design talent continued.....

Alexandre Herchcovitch

This dress from the Alexandre Herchcovitch SS2010 collection really stands out for me - it is the most interesting silhouette in this collection and has a hint of Russian doll about it that maybe led him to develop this theme so successfully for AW2010.

Well known in Brazil and now based State side in New York there is another Brazilian designer making an impact on the fashion scene. Alexandre Herchcovitch born in Sao Paulo in 1971, initially influenced by a creative mother has developed a unique and increasingly commercial style.
His Babushka meets Bedouin AW2010 collection is his best yet in my opinion. The veritable riot of textural contrasts created with crocheted lace, fish scale sequins, smooth silks, matted wool and shiny velvets combined with brave cutting and tailoring is a triumph and very wearable. The attention to detail ensure the investment buy credentials are strong. The collection is seductive and luxurious for a more cautious market and opulent without being showy. A good quality to have in these more prudent times.
