Basso and Brooke
Issa
The Brazilians as we all know are an innately stylish race. Some of the most celebrated catwalk models such as Gisele Bundchen discovered by Mario Testino on a talent scout mission in Sao Paulo have played a significant role in influencing the fashion look of the moment. Beauty, style and effortless sex appeal are part of the Brazilian woman's make -up. We can see this reflected in the way she styles herself and the way she wears her clothes with a seemingly effortless demure panache.
Two Brazilian designer brands based in London are Issa and Basso and Brooke.
Daniella Issa Helayel who is worn by Kate Middleton has become an important label in London Fashion Week. The fact that our potential future queen has noticed the sex appeal of her clothes has not gone unnoticed by the fashion press.
Issa says she designs "beautiful collections that make lots of people very happy. We want to offer clothes that are multi-functional, for an urban lifestyle.”
Basso and Brooke an Anglo Brazilian partnership made up of Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke are another fashion force to be reckoned with. Their collections are modern and truly covetable.
What I love about this label is there is a definite Basso and Brooke hand writing that is unique and identifiable - much in the same way that one knew an Alexander McQueen. One can see the sexy womanly styling a la Brazil combined with a very modern almost futuristic twist. The patterns and colour combinations woven together with fabulous tailoring and body con cuts from both the SS2010 and AW2010/11 collections are inspirational.
